Lucy learned to swim at the age of 4 in her hometown of Weston-Super-Mare, England. She developed a passion for the sport and competing, in particular when she competed in her first National Championships at the age of 11. At that age, Lucy began training with an elite team at Bath University with whom she made her very first British Championships qualifying time. At age 14, Lucy and her family decided it was best for her academic and swimming career that she attend Millfield boarding school. A boarding school with a greatly successful swimming team meant that Lucy could focus on developing her passion for swimming without letting her academic achievements be negatively affected. After medaling at Nationals, swimming for England and attending the British Olympic trials, Lucy got selected to swim for Great Britain in the European Junior Championships, Prague. In her senior year of Millfield, Lucy got recruited for Fresno State’s division 1 Women’s swimming program. In her collegiate career, she broke the school’s 200yd freestyle record, as well as four relay team records. Her senior year, Lucy was captain of the swim team, was voted “Most Influential”, and graduated with a degree in Kinesiology.
Lucy has been a volunteer coach frequently at her home team in Weston-Super-Mare from the age of 13-18. Since coaching, she has thoroughly enjoyed watching the progression and improvement of her swimmers, as well as creating exciting new friendships.
