Fitness Corner

The end of the year is a perfect time to look at our lifestyles and set new fitness goals and challenges. Too many sweets, indoor gatherings, missed workouts, and constant eating, leave millions of people feeling out of shape and overweight come January! If you plan now, you can avoid disaster for the rest of the holiday season...

Remember the value of small, consistent steps over the long haul.

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act, but a habit." -Aristotle
We are committed to helping you find and maintain the fitness plan that fits your unique style and goals.

Here are a few suggestions:

  • Take a new group exercise class- See our growing list at the front desk. Including our signature "Factory" class...But beware! All of our classes can be highly addictive and lead to "general awesomeness!"
  • We have a vigorous and popular aqua-fit class SIX days per week!
  • MaxFit (Max Athlete) is in its 7th year! Our tribe is active in many other fitness activities as well and results can be outstanding! We train 6 days/week (Monday thru Friday at 5pm and Saturday at 9am.) This is a Strength & Conditioning program that makes extensive use of the Olympic lifts (Snatch and Clean & Jerk) as well as the Power Lifts (Squats, Bench Press & Dead Lift). Try your 1st class for free!
  • Get your body composition tested and caloric needs assessed. We have enthusiastic, caring trainers available to guide you.
  • If you’re new to the club (less than 3 months), take advantage of your COMPLIMENTARY training sessions with myself or one of our many trainers. We will review your posture and fitness goals to help you get started. Don't wait until January! Get after it now and avoid the new year’s resolution syndrome.

Happy Holidays and remember to give back this season!

Sports Programming Department

Many of you know me as one of the group exercise instructors and personal trainers here at the club. But I am now excited to announce I will be the director for our new Sports Programming Department. As the Sports Programming Department's director, I want to bring a brand new set of services and experiences to our new and existing members in areas we have never had a chance to explore until now. From top to bottom, I want to have something for everyone.

Here are some of the things you can expect to see:

- Batting Cages:

We are excited to have 3 batting cages available for members to use, for both baseball and softball. Whether it be for leisure, sport specific coaching, team practices, or birthday parties, they are there for you to utilize.

- Individual Sport Specific Coaching:

Whether you are a club soccer player, golf enthusiast, or peewee football quarterback, there will be a coach here to help take your game to the next level. I envision having a coach for each respective sport for every athlete who walks through our door year round. The training never stops once the season ends.

- Camps/Clinics/Seminars:

Well let’s break down the difference between camps and clinics. Camps tend to be multiple days and clinics are usually a few to several hours up to a single day, but both working on specific skills for their respective sport. Seminars are usually educational and focused on one specific topic covering many areas and multiple sports.

As a kid, I loved attending basketball camp due to the experience and competition. I ate it up. Now a parent myself, I enjoy being able to share those experiences with my own daughter who is quite the soccer fanatic. But I don't want to have to wait until summer to enroll her in one. I want to bring year-round sport specific camps to you the member. These camps are not just for youth athletes, but for adults as well.

There are times when you just want someone to tell you what to do or maybe you want another perspective on training or winning; that is where these seminars come in. I want to bring in some of the industry’s top coaches, psychologists, nutritionists, and anyone who has something that can better educate all of us.

- Leagues:

Why put in all this work if you're not putting your training to the test? Whether you are a junior member or an adult, there will be a league you can participate in. Competition is a great thing. It will challenge you mentally and physically. In my opinion (and I know some might not agree) sports are about winning and losing. From 3-on-3 youth basketball, adult ultimate frisbee, to flag football, I want to be able to provide you the opportunity to showcase your talents.

As you can see, there are so many directions this department can go, and trust me when I say I want to explore them all. I just ask you continue to remain patient and to trust the process as we build this department from the ground up. Check the website and Facebook, check the newsletters, check the flyers, as new programs coming from the Sports Programming department will be announced on all platforms. Again, I am excited to bring these services to your experience here at Paso Robles Sports Club and the Factory.

I'll see you all around,
Nick Reyes
Sports Programming Director
