Testimonial from a current member

img
Shout out to all our group ex instructors-what you do is helping others change their lives! Please read the following testimonial from a current member ....
I wanted to send you a quick note letting you know that since late September I've lost almost 50 lbs! A huge contributing factor to that has been because of my membership at the Paso Robles Sports Club. In my opinion, the facilities and personnel are the best in the area! Even though I do not play tennis, I like to swim and spin! I've had to overcome some major health challenges but because I can do these low-impact activities at the club,I am able to get my health back on track! I would like to give a special shout out to Deborah and Barbara who have helped make this happen with their early morning spin classes!

Fitness Corner with Dr. Andre Acebo

Chiropractor and Strength Coach

What do tennis, golf, baseball & softball have in common? They're all done outside? True! We live in a perfect place with great weather and awesome facilities to enjoy playing these sports? Also true! They all require rotational power generated from the hips...now we're talking!

Athletes in these sports need strong, explosive hips and legs. Also, they need great core stability to allow the transfer of force from the lower body to the upper body, all while rotating through the hips and pelvis. That's where sports specific strength training comes in.

It starts with a physical assessment. How mobile and how stable are you? What is your posture like? How much power can you generate?! Do you have old injuries that limit your ability to play?

I am a Strength Coach, Corrective Exercise Specialist, and certified by the TitIeist Performance Institute. I perform sport-specific posture, mobility and stability assessments and provide corrective exercise strategies that can help you move better and with more power.

As a Chiropractor, I am also a manual therapy practitioner. I do soft tissue work and joint manipulation to break up adhesions, alleviate pain, and restore normal joint motion.

With a solid understanding of the golf swing and rotational power, I can also work alongside your golf, tennis, or swing coach to create a fitness plan that compliments their instruction.

Give me a call for an assessment today,
As always you can call or text me with any of your chiropractic, fitness, or sports club questions.

Tennis ABC's and Saturday Morning Mixer

After spending the last quarter as your Director, it has become evident the initial intention of the Saturday "learn the basic ABC's of tennis" has missed its intended target. It does not work for beginners, or the advanced players that find themselves desiring a place to play on Saturdays as some mornings 2 show and other mornings 12+. Therefore as a staff, we have decided to discontinue the previous class as it has run in the past. However, we recognize our members would still like to have programming.

BEGINNING IN MAY, Gary will be teaching the "New" Tennis Basics Clinic for current and new members that would like to be introduced to tennis from 8:00-9:00 am. This will remain a FREE clinic by reservation only. (Gary does not need to be up early if nobody intends to come). We are keeping this clinic on the schedule because we believe it is important for new members or those new to the game to see what it is all about. If you are interested in this, please contact Gary at [email protected]

ADDITIONALLY, we will be now offering a FREE Saturday morning Mixer open to all members starting at 9:00am, after the completion of the Tennis ABC's Clinic. We will be blocking off courts and Gary will start sending out matches for all existing members of all levels. You are welcome to reserve courts earlier and warm up as needed. As with all of our other tennis activities, letting the pro know you intend to be there with an RSVP makes every event run far better and is therefore REQUIRED. We hope this will be a social time that brings everyone together.

Second Annual PRSC Teams Appreciation Day: May 17

All women participating on a PRSC team in the Central Coast Women's Tennis League are invited out for a free, casual morning of play beginning at 10:00. Play will be followed by a classic PRSC PotLuck. Please register and as we have a better understanding of participants we can assign food. Please let Amy know if you would like to attend. ([email protected])

Devin and Amy will also be organizing Summer Wednesday morning Mixers for our women considering CCWTL/USTA play in the Fall. Hopefully everyone will occasionally play an up match and a down match to meet new players, or partner with someone from another team they can get to know. We would love to see "teams" or "partners" be set aside for the first few weeks of summer so that everyone can get to know a few more friends. As we talk and plan we cannot believe how many amazing members we have, and want you all to know each other. Of course, PLEASE RSVP to Amy at [email protected] so that we can plan for you.

Fit4Tennis will continue on Fridays throughout the summer. Men and Women looking to work about 15 minutes on footwork, stretching, and eye hand coordination, will then spend 45-minutes drilling, and about 30 minutes of guided point play. This class is not a technique based class and is geared towards players with previous lesson experience. RSVP is required by Thursday 5:00pm. Spring has not proven the initial need for both pros therefore, If we do not have enough players for 2 courts we would like to open up the court for other tennis play as soon as possible. Cost: $20

We will also be continuing the Adult Clinics that are on the current schedule. Monday and Thursday evenings from 5:30-7 will be a warm welcome. Please RSVP to Devin Barber as this is not a drop in clinic. Monday will be reserved for 2.0-3.5 level players and Thursday will be reserved for 3.5-5.0 level players at the club.

Information will continue to be provided at our Tennis Hub roughly in the middle of the tennis courts between the the two clubhouses. We will update any news and information in our bulletin board.

Tournament Travel Group Intensive Training Camp

We are also excited to announce a Tournament Travel Group this summer with their own Intensive Training Camp to be held June 10-12th. The High Schoolers have been consistently working out twice a week all year and they are ready for the next level of commitment. Intensive Training Camp will run 10:00-2:00 each day and players will training with Devin, Amy, and Andre "Doc" in both tennis and fitness. Even if your junior has not been training all year but intends to try out for a high school team, earn ranking points, or move up their team ladder, we have a spot for them. This is a Professionally run Camp and players must meet pro approval before signing up. For more details, flyers are available at the front desk, or email at [email protected].

The goal of all of our summer tennis will be to create a love for the game by not only learning or refining the fundamentals of the game, but also realizing the "team" aspect of tennis. IF your junior only thinks that tennis is " a lesson", we would like to show them how it becomes a team sport. We will be forming Junior Team Tennis teams in the Fall where our younger kids will host and travel to compete with a few other local club teams in a fun and non intimidating environment. However, this takes a knowledge of fundamentals making summer the perfect time to start!
