Paso Robles Sports Club is honored to welcome Amy Barber to their tennis staff. Amy is a graduate of Cal Poly SLO with a degree in Kinesiology. While pursuing her degree, she competed on their Nationally Ranked Women’s Tennis team earning NCAA All-American status and was personally ranked #4 in the nation. Her most cherished honor was notched when she received the NCAA Arthur Ashe Sportsman of the Year. This honor far exceeds all others in her opinion because it epitomizes everything she tries to convey to her students: work endlessly hard, treat everyone with dignity and respect, and honor your competition by playing with integrity.
Certified by the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) in 1988 at their highest level possible, she continues educational credits to stay current with the latest in technology and stroke production. Amy is an “Elite Professional” in current standing with the U.S.P.T.A. While she has taught many junior players that have gone on to take their games to the collegiate level, many of her very favorite memories on court revolve around coaching CCWTL teams. She is known for diagnosing stroke imperfections, and correcting those issues within the confines of each individual’s abilities. . Her desire is to inspire in others a lifelong love of the game through hard work, achievement, laughter, and friendship. Amy has been teaching on the Central Coast for over 30 years and is excited to join the team at Paso Robles Sports Club.
