PRSC Tennis Academy

On January 1st, 2022 Paso Robles Sports Club officially turned their junior tennis program into PRSC Tennis Academy. Since 2019, the growth of our junior tennis has been astounding. We have seen progression in every level we offer from four/five year olds, to graduating high schoolers, and everything in between. Our program has happily helped several players realize their dream of playing collegiate tennis. As we continue to pursue tennis excellence, this summer we will adapt some of our scheduling and programming. All of our junior tennis programs will now be split into two levels: “Clinic Level”, and “Academy Level

The reason behind this move is to be able to distinguish levels of commitment allowing both our past program and our new additional academy to excel side by side . This is not a means to separate “good” players from “bad” players but rather a distinction based on commitment. As our coaching staff has grown, we have the ability to develop all different levels of tennis players. Splitting our clinics up into multiple courts allows our staff to approach practices with appropriate intentionality.

Academy Level: Academy Level players will be held to the highest standard of commitment. PRSC Tennis Academy now has 20+ players (Starting at 10 years old) playing in tournaments, establishing rankings, and making decisions to make tennis their priority and full time sport. Our goal as a tennis staff is to provide these players with clinics that challenge them with advanced techniques in a serious and competitive lesson. Surrounding our academy players with like minded players is critical for development. Emphasis on strength, agility, and fitness for tournament play will also be required.

Clinic Level: Tennis is played as a skilled activity, an introductory sport, cross training sport, etc. and we have built our Paso Robles Sports Club tennis program with this foundation in mind. Coaches will continue to hold players to the highest standards but there is no expectation of tournament play. Coaches will focus on the fundamentals of stroke production, love of the game, and lighter competition. Our hope is that as players learn to love the game they will advance towards new goals and levels of commitment.

Placement will be based on coaches/staff discretion, or by contacting Director of Tennis Devin Barber at [email protected] to discuss your desired placement.
